Read the job
Identify leather and imitation surfaces, separate soil from wear, survey the item and test the whole proposed system.
CCMTec® Academy · Professional online training
Learn to assess the furniture, identify the surface, test the complete system and carry out a controlled clean, care treatment and professional handover.
From first enquiry to finished job
A cream coated sofa, an absorbent aniline chair and a suede-effect surface need different decisions. Learn how to tell them apart and carry out the supported cleaning route, with practical explanations in plain English.
Illustrated methods, working sequences, comparisons and worked jobs help you connect the explanation to the job in front of you.
Identify leather and imitation surfaces, separate soil from wear, survey the item and test the whole proposed system.
Prepare the tools, remove loose soil, work small controlled sections, recover soil and handle seams, spills and difficult areas.
Inspect the dry result, apply compatible care, explain aftercare and record the job using the practical documents.
Start with selection and preparation. Work through the methods, then finish with fault-finding, full jobs and practical readiness.
Learn what you are actually cleaning, how a leather finish changes the method, and how to choose a safe starting route instead of treating every sofa alike.
Open module 1 →Turn a customer's request into a clear cleaning job: inspect every part, record old damage, agree what cleaning can achieve and set up the room properly.
Open module 2 →Build a practical kit, understand what each item does and prepare a cleaning system that removes soil without flooding or abrading the leather.
Open module 3 →Carry out a controlled test that tells you whether the whole cleaning and care process is suitable, and learn when a mark on the cloth is a warning.
Open module 4 →Prepare the furniture properly and learn how to work around seams, folds, buttons and mixed materials without pushing grit or liquid into the upholstery.
Open module 5 →Carry out a full manual clean on stable pigmented leather: load the cloth correctly, work a panel, recover the soil and judge the dry result before continuing.
Open module 6 →Learn the more controlled routine-care route for absorbent smooth leather, including full-panel working, dry evaluation and realistic stain limits.
Open module 7 →Carry out supported dry surface care on raised-nap leather and learn to recognise when the problem is worn nap, absorbed contamination or a failing coating.
Open module 8 →Diagnose the mark before treating it, carry out a controlled first response and learn why some stain work belongs in restoration rather than repeated routine cleaning.
Open module 9 →Check the result properly, identify residue and unevenness, and decide whether a correction is routine recovery or a problem that needs specialist advice.
Open module 10 →Finish a successful clean with the right compatible care step, apply it evenly and give the client instructions that match their actual leather.
Open module 11 →Put the whole course together on realistic jobs, practise the full sequence and prepare clear records, quotes and handovers before offering the service.
Open module 12 →Assessment and practical resources
Complete the lessons and practical exercises, then take the 40-question self-marking assessment. Score at least 32/40 (80%) to pass. Feedback and retakes are included.
Passing opens your personalised CCMTec Academy completion certificate, ready to print or save as PDF.
Routine leather cleaning and care, including pigmented leather, supported absorbent-leather care and appropriate dry care for nap surfaces. Recolouring, coating repair and major specialist degreasing are separate services.
The certificate records completion and a knowledge assessment. It does not independently verify hands-on competence or claim external accreditation. Use the actual carpet or furniture, chemical and equipment instructions and practise unfamiliar techniques appropriately.
